I have dedicated a blog post about why 3 month sessions are the best times to photograph your baby if you miss the newborn photography window, which you can see here, so I wont go into all the details again other than- its the next best time ;) Once babies are meeting these milestones it make the ease of the session much easier and successful if trying to photograph a newborn at say, 6 weeks! Typically these sessions involve a lot of posing with Mom or Dad, which makes great for family pictures in sessions! The reason being is babies at this age can't yet sit up or do tummy time well, so being sure to organically pose at this age with parents is important- it also still brings out the littleness and still fresh baby phase ( at this age, they are still so very new!) Its like clockwork for me, around 45 minutes within a session at this age.. I start to loose them. If they seem a bit tired, Ill spend just 5 minutes or so seeing if we can get baby to sleep, and if we can, it makes for some cute pictures at the end!! ( often tho, this doesn't happen.. but when it does its a little bonus!) Was so happy to see this beautiful mama back in the studio after I was able to photograph her maternity session- such a joy to work with! Here are some highlights.
